Rolling Stock Gauging surveys are far more than purely scanning the vehicle in question, it requires an understanding of what information is needed, how it needs to be aligned and then exported. Aligning the vehicle in the scan data is crucial to maximise the benefits of the 3D scan. Any alignment errors could increase the vehicle width to the point where false clearance issues are found which could lead to incorrect gauging decisions being made.
