Raising money for great causes

After his Mum spent 10 unplanned weeks in hospital in 2022, Mike has been wanting to raise money for a cause selected by his Mum. The means of raising money may not be the most physically demanding challenge, and it will hopefully be an adventure to remember, but that doesn't mean that it can't be used as a means of raising awareness and money for good. To set the ball rolling, Akriveia have put £1,000 into the sponsorship pot, which Mike will have to use his best powers of persuasion to ensure as much of that remains at the end of the challenge.

Two incredibly worthwhile causes have been identified, Dove House Hospice chosen by Mike's Mum, and the recovery of Ellie Slater which has been chosen by Mike. Any money raised will be split 50/50 and there is a target to raise £2,500.

For more information on the challenge which is to be undertaken by Mike then scroll down, but first please read the information relating to Dove House Hospice and Ellie Slater, and please consider donating.

After an asthma attack, Ellie collapsed and was unable to walk. She was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in 2023. Ellie attended the MOTIONrehab clinic in Hull in 2024 for her initial assessment where her goals included being able to walk by her birthday, drive, return to work, and go on holiday. During this assessment, she was able to take her first steps without support.

Undergoing treatment both under the NHS as well as at MOTIONrehab, has allowed Ellie to progress with all her goals and more. She has completed sessions on robotics devices, using the visual feedback on screen, carried out functional tasks and exercises, outdoor work, distraction techniques and various challenges in her environment.

She has surprised herself with her ability...

  •  Previously having to use a stairlift, Ellie is now independent on the stairs.
  •  She is walking with the use of functional electrical stimulation (FES).
  •  She is able to drive.
  •  She can run and perform handstands.

She is now working towards completing a HYROX workout and preparing to return to work. Keep up the hard work, Ellie, you're doing amazing!

And big thank you to Graft House gym for the equipment.

ELLIE SLATER

Ellie is a complete inspiration, over the past couple of years she has faced unexpected challenges that literally came out of nowhere when Ellie suffered with an asthma attack which left her unable to walk. Ellie's attitude, determination, positivity and outlook is truly humbling.

She has come a long way which is down to Ellie's sheer determination and not giving up, the support of Andy and Jo her parents and the great things that the NHS and MOTIONrehab in Hull are doing with Ellie.

Roadtrip 2025

In March 2025 Mike will aim to drive from John O'Groats to Lands End, which may not seem that much of a challenge so to make things more interesting the following rules apply:

  • No map, GPS or sat nav
  • No motorways
  • No accommodation booked

According to google, the shortest route is 971 miles, assuming 250 miles per day that is a 4 day trip, however the likelihood that the trip is completed in 4 days is pretty slim.

As part of the challenge, Akriveia will put £1,000 into the pot for accommodation and meals. Mike has the challenge of spending as little (ideally none) of the pot as possible during the trip, therefore maximising the amount raised.

How can you help...

There are numerous ways you can help to raise money.

Follow XXXXX on Instagram and Facebook

By following XXXXXXX on Instagram and Facebook you will be helping to raise awareness of the Roadtrip, which in turn will make it more likely that B&Bs and hotels will provide free accommodation, in return for exposure on social media. You will also be able to keep track of Mike's progress during the roadtrip with regular updates along the way.

Personal Sponsorship

Corporate Sponsorship

Any Corporate Sponsorship will result in the vehicle used for the roadtrip having your company logo in a prominent position on the vehicle, and to complicate the journey a visit will be planned to any corporate sponsors offices.

Personal Sponsorship is very much appreciated, by sponsoring this fund raising event you will get your name on the vehicle used for the roadtrip.

Working with customers

On every single project Akriveia strive to surpass the customer expectations, as a minimum to provide what they need, when they need it and ensure that their project runs as smoothly as possible.

A key part of achieving this is to understand why the customer requires the scan data. Knowing this information will dictate how the scan will be conducted and how the data will be processed and exported.
